Apple Sells 1 Millionth iPhone

How do you sell 1 million iPhones in under 74 days?  Create a cell phone for ONE network, tell everyone about it for a year, release it at an outrageous price, allow it to be hacked, drop the price and issue credit to customers that bought too early.  Does that sound about right?

No doubt the iPhone is one of the most popular gadgets this year, but the stories that followed that thing around are even more popular.  Issuing the store credit was a weird, but needed, step in the process Apple had to take to retain customer base.  There is also no doubt that Apple learned a think or two from the price cuts and the tech geeks that learned to hack the iphone.

Nonetheless, Apple keeps on keep’n on and there may be plans to start their own cellular network.  Do you think that would have saved them a ton of money to begin with?
