Sitting here, like usual, looking at a white wall and thinking about when to write.  I look to my left and in my range of vision I can see about 3 telephones.  2 cellphones and one cordless land-line phone.  I started thinking about back in the day when almost all phones had cords attached to them and it wasn’t for charging them up at night.

When I was a teen, I had to sit right near the phone when I used it.  Friends would call and every word of your conversation could be heard by anyone within earshot of the telephone.  Not that there was anything to hide, but at that age you certainly want some sort of privacy.

Now, when teens want to talk, they whip out the ol’ cellphone hit a speed dial number and can talk while there are in line at the local movie theater.  Granted you conversation is heard throughout the place (cause most people don’t talk quietly on the phone in public), but at least you have the option of getting out of the room to talk privately.

I hated that I couldn’t get around on the phone back in the day, now that I can talk whenever I want I don’t even want to see a telephone.  I would rather let the phone ring and when I get to it, I get to it.  So, if you are reading this and have tried to call me anytime since the cordless phone came out, leave a message at the beep!
