Not Sure, But This Can’t Be Good
I was just catching up on a little tech news through Google.com today when I came across this article about an LA security professional that infected 1/4 million computers to steal personal data.
Can we trust anyone? The “infecter”, a 26 year old John Kenneth Schiefer, known online as “acid” or “acidstorm” has pleaded guilty to the charges of fraud and wiretapping. If convicted, which I really see not being that hard to do, he faces up to 60 years in prison and $1.75 million in fines. Whew! That is a lot of sauce to pay for personal data, don’t you think?
The whole point is, he is a security PRO, at 26 years old and already breaking the law with his ability to know more than the next security guy. Yeah he most likely will never work again in this field, but who cares, crocks will pay him as a consultant, right?
