Comcast blocks traffic as reported on MSN

An associated press test of sending data over the Comcast network has shown the number 2 ISP in the country, is blocking some data from being shared.

If widely applied by other ISPs, the technology Comcast is using would be a crippling blow to the BitTorrent, eDonkey and Gnutella file-sharing networks. While these are mainly known as sources of copyright music, software and movies, BitTorrent in particular is emerging as a legitimate tool for quickly disseminating legal content.

Comcast does not block access to the programs used to share files. Members can download all day long, but the uploads of full files are slowed by the company. This is only an attempt to slow the file-sharing networks from eating up tons of bandwith and causing others internet speed to slow.
