Watch out! Sony has a plan!
Recently at GITEX Technology Week, Sony announced plans to revolutionize the flat screen market. Sony announced plans to release a new technology for flat panel televisions. That technology you ask? Well, let’s just call it, Organic light emitting diode display (OLED).
Technology that enables the production of super-thin, high-resolution displays with a contrast ratio of up to 1,000,000:1. Sony is showcasing an 11-inch commercial prototype display on its stand located in Sheikh Rashid Hall.
Along with this product, Sony is still working on many HD ready items and plans to educate their customers on OLED and new HD devices and products. Well, you know what they say, customers that know stuff, buy stuff. If a customer is well educated, they can pass the word along a lot faster then the “well, it’s like this, and there is a little something inside the unit that does this” kind of word of mouth.
Good for Sony, but what about my projector and 102″ screen? Am I going to have to upgrade to a TV that could fit my whole wall and only be ONE inch thick? Well, once I make my next million and learn more about the 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio of OLED, I think I might consider it!
