Sony Online Music Store to Close
Apple iTunes 1
Sony Connect 0
Sony has announced that it is shutting Connect, its online music store, admitting defeat at the hands of Apple’s iTunes.
That’s right folks. Apple has kicked another ass in the online music market. The whole thing was that Sony only sold songs that could be played on Sony devices. That is most likely where they went wrong. When Sony wants to broaden their reach to many different markets, why hold the music to just one?
It was bound to happen, too bad it had to take this long before Sony realized it had to end. The next generation of Sony Walkman type stereos will be able to play the Windows Media Player format, which opens them up to quite a few files it will support.
If it were up to me, I would only buy a device that I could play all sorts of files formats on. It only makes sense and when consumer is tied down like that, bad things happen ![]()
