Kmart still on the Blu-Ray band wagon

After getting a call yesterday to remind me of the $100 Walmart HD DVD player deal, I thought I would take a look online and see if there were still stores that are gonna try and sell the Blu-Ray players.

Guess what I found?  Kmart is supporting the Blu-Ray system.  When asked about the rumors that Kmart will sell the HD DVD player, the VP of electronics said this:

When reached for comment, K-mart sent a rather defensive-sounding statement attributed to Jonathan Magasanik, vice president of home electronics for Sears Holdings, Kmart’s parent company: “There have been numerous statements in the media (Wednesday), attributed to Toshiba, indicating exclusive support for the HD-DVD format in Kmart stores. These statements are false. Kmart intends to support both the HD-DVD and Blu-ray platforms, and has no plans to support either platform exclusively.”

So, it looks like Kmart is it in for the long haul or at least will not be supporting the HD DVD exclusively, like many others.  I am not going to tell them what to do, but remember the Laser Disc players? They were all the rage for about 3 days, well not literally, but you know what I mean.  I am going to call Blu-Ray, the newest laser disc.
