How Many Remote Controls Do You Have?

This is something that has been sort of a weird thing to me for a good portion of about 10 years now.  How many remote controls people have lying around their living or recreation area.  They are, of course, to control the many components they own and operate on a daily TV/movie watching basis.

A remote for the TV, cable box, one for the DVD player, one for the surround sound receiver, cd player and maybe even one for the lights.  Universal remotes are excellent for the type of situation that many people find themselves in.  Too many remotes, too little time.  With technology these days, setting up a universal remote control isn’t as hard as it used to be.  Now, a lot of them are pre-programmed to fit the TV or component that you have based on the brand name or model number alone.  This makes for setting up the remote even easier.

Universal remote controls come in a thousand different varieties and you will have to research them in order to find the one that is right for you.  Just about every brand name makes them, so if you are a brand name freak, you can still get the brand you want.  Even some satellite/cable networks have universal remotes that come with whatever package you got suckered into buying.  These might be able to control up to 4 units, but it’s not a bad start if you are looking at 5-6 remotes.  Give it a thought or two this Christmas holiday, if you see someone with too many remotes, feel free to help them out and buy them a universal remote.  It saves time and we all know how valuable that is.
